The best thing about going to work early is the sunrises or early morning light.

Moss on the roof!

Light on the moss growing on the neighbours roof attracted my daughters attention and she had a go at capturing it on camera.

Not bad for a beginner if you ask me. She's enthused about the little photo comps happening on http://www.hellophoto.co.nz . The subject was 'Symmetry'.

Cultures combine

Three cultures combine for an evening of games. China, USA and Kiwi,. Any possible language barriers are broken by the laughter and excitement of a bit of a game on the football table.

Home grown

There's nothing quite like growing your own and when the weather is nice (for winter) you can't help getting out in the garden, giving it a good dig over and planting something.

It's still a bit cool  in our region for many things, but brocolli are hardy and apparently good to get under way now. So I have planted a collection ready for spring.

Fog in route

Fog is common in these parts, between Rotorua and Taupo. It always creates an interesting atmosphere for photography on an early morning drive.

A drive where we were on a mission to get to an event therefore a stop was not an option. And of course it was much warmer inside the van. This taken through the windscreen as we were driving along.

Serene Lake

Travelling up the country regularly you get to see the sights over and over in different lights. A pit stop on the shores of Lake Taupo late Saturday afternoon presented this lovely sight.

The coolness of the winter afternoons air is hidden from the shot, although there is a 'crispness' to the blue of sky and water.

Stunning Winters Day

For the doubters, Manawatu does have something going for it. It's not always windy and cold, in fact we even get sunshine and blue skies.

Our Sunday drive had plenty of lovely rural views and beautiful blue skies. Check out more photos in the Manawatu photo album.

Family activities are great for your soul! There is nothing better than sharing a fun night out together. An evening with Manawatu's Battered Hats Celtic Dance Band is fantastic fun!

Everyone, young and old, gets into the swing of things and has a great night out.

OK, well I admit, I like things about bikes and quite fancied this display at the local shop while shopping tonight... thats right special privileges for some of us.

Actually we were lucky enough to have the local shop owner do a talk about bike maintenance for our junior development squad. And I had fun afterwards photographing some of the displays. Thanks Phil.

5hrs of MTB bliss.. mud mud mud

We're all just kids really.... over 100 riders, of all ages, took to the mud and trails at the inaugural Santoft Sizzler 5hr MTB relay. It was wet, it was a bit cool, and it was very sticky muddy! but it was a hell of a lot of fun!

There seemed to be plenty of riders having lots of fun. I believe the eldest chap was 75 an...
